Ukraine says it has carried out the world's first submarine drone strike, targeting a Russian naval vessel. This marks a significant new step in the expanding use of unmanned technology in the Black Sea war.
The attack reportedly damaged a Russian *Ropucha*-class landing ship in Crimea's port of Sevastopol. Ukraine's military intelligence agency released video showing an underwater drone approaching the vessel before the feed cuts out.
Military analysts call this a major evolution. Naval warfare has seen widespread use of floating surface drones. A submersible drone is harder to detect and could threaten a wider range of enemy ships and infrastructure.
While Russia has not officially confirmed the strike, independent analysts verify the ship was hit. This underwater capability, if proven, gives Ukraine a new tool to challenge Russia's powerful Black Sea Fleet, which has already suffered significant losses.
