Drone strikes Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv, killing at least one

A Russian drone struck the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv in broad daylight, killing at least one person and injuring six others, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram. Zelensky said a rescue operation is underway, with teams putting out the fire and searching for people who may be trapped inside. Three children are among the wounded, he added. A medical center in central Kyiv was also attacked, according to the president. The Academy of Sciences building sits in one of Kyiv's most central areas, on the same street as the National Opera and the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which was hit directly by a drone on September 4. The strike follows a weekend of constant explosions in the Ukrainian capital. For weeks, Russian drones have attacked the city day and night.
