Indonesia urges Islamic bloc to act on Palestine

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono called on member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to unite for Palestinian independence at the United Nations. Sugiono made the appeal during a meeting of OIC member states, urging collective action to push the Palestinian cause onto the global stage. The OIC is a group of 57 countries with large Muslim populations. It coordinates political positions on issues affecting the Islamic world. Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation, has long supported Palestinian statehood.
