South Africa has deported a group of Kenyans accused of running an illegal operation. Authorities say the Kenyans were processing fake refugee applications.
The scheme targeted white South Africans. It claimed to help them resettle in the United States under a special program.
South African officials state the Kenyans did not have legal permission to work. Their operation supported U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to bring white South Africans to America as refugees.
The U.S. government has acknowledged considering such a program. It would apply to a small group claiming persecution. The deported Kenyans are now barred from re-entering South Africa.
