Pope Leo has warned that artificial intelligence could threaten what it means to be human. He spoke at the start of a three-day visit to France — the first official papal trip there in 18 years.
Speaking at the Élysée, the Pontiff said people risk "losing our humanity amid a paradise of machines invading and conditioning our daily lives."
He called for urgent education in ethical discernment, so people can judge what is morally right.
The Pope's warning adds to growing global concern about the dangers of artificial intelligence.
