Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of corruption. The party is urging Nigerians to reject his expected presidential bid in 2027.
The APC listed several cases it says link Atiku to financial scandals. These include the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project, the Siemens bribery scandal, the William Jefferson case, and the PTDF funds controversy. The party also cited a US Senate investigation into suspicious financial transactions.
The APC said Atiku's name appears in "files and dossiers of onshore and offshore financial scandals."
Atiku has not yet responded to these allegations. He has previously denied any wrongdoing in these cases.
The former vice president ran for president in 2019 and 2023. He is widely expected to seek the office again in 2027.
