Regional forces have seized the airport in Mekelle, the capital of Ethiopia's Tigray region, raising fears of renewed conflict.
The takeover follows a series of reported drone strikes in Tigray. Regional authorities say at least 14 people were killed and 22 injured in a strike on the town of Alamata on Tuesday.
The mayor of Alamata accused federal forces of targeting schools in the attack.
