U.S. stocks dropped on Tuesday, led by the Nasdaq composite. The decline came as U.S. bond yields jumped to their highest levels in nearly two decades.
The dollar also strengthened. A "bond yield" is the return an investor earns from holding government debt. When yields rise, borrowing costs increase across the economy, which can pressure stock prices.
