House Speaker Mike Johnson will not allow a vote to extend key health insurance tax credits.
He had previously planned to let moderate Republicans vote on their proposal. On Tuesday, however, Johnson stated the effort was “not to be.”
The decision stops a push to continue subsidies that help some Americans afford health coverage. Their future is now uncertain without congressional action.
