A massive data center project backed by OpenAI is facing growing local opposition in Georgia. The $20 billion campus, announced in July near Rincon, has been hit with a second lawsuit from Effingham County residents and environmental advocates.
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, plans to build about 4.4 million square feet of data center space. The site sits 30 miles northwest of Savannah.
The project has drawn concerns from local residents and environmental groups. Details of the new lawsuit have not yet been released.
