Doctor in Matthew Perry Ketamine Case Avoids Prison

A doctor who helped illegally supply ketamine to actor Matthew Perry has been sentenced to home confinement, avoiding prison time. Dr. Mark Chavez, 55, was sentenced on Tuesday to eight months of home confinement. He will also undergo three years of supervised release. The sentence was handed down in a Los Angeles federal courtroom by Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett. Chavez had pleaded guilty for his role in a scheme to provide the controlled drug to the "Friends" star. Matthew Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine in October 2023.
