Egypt condemned an Israeli official’s visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday, calling it a violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites.
In a statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the official entered the compound with a group of settlers under Israeli police protection.
Cairo warned that such actions threaten stability in the region and undermine efforts to reach a peaceful settlement.
