Second Doctor Sentenced in Matthew Perry's Ketamine Death

A second doctor has been sentenced for his role in supplying the ketamine that led to actor Matthew Perry's death. Dr. Mark Chavez was sentenced to three years of supervised release by a federal judge. He will not serve prison time. Court documents state Chavez used fraudulent prescriptions to obtain the powerful anesthetic drug. He then conspired to sell it to Perry at highly inflated prices. This case is separate from the ongoing investigation into Perry's immediate cause of death. Chavez was convicted for his part in the illegal supply chain that provided the ketamine. The "Friends" star was found dead at his home in October 2023. His autopsy cited the acute effects of ketamine as the primary cause. Another doctor, Dr. Amanda Robertson, pleaded guilty to related charges earlier this year. She is awaiting sentencing.
