The man who killed six people at a Sydney shopping center was a citizen of India, Australian police confirmed.
Sajid Akram, 40, had moved to Australia 27 years ago. A senior police official stated that Akram had only "limited" contact with his family in Hyderabad, India, during that time.
The attack occurred last Saturday at the Westfield Bondi Junction mall. Akram was shot and killed by a police officer at the scene.
Police continue to investigate his motives. They have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
