US President Donald Trump signed a new sanctions bill into law on Friday. The law targets major buyers of Russian energy, including China and India. The signing comes just days before Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Washington for a state visit.
The White House released a brief statement. It said Trump had signed the "Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026." The law authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and prohibitions on Russia. It also extends existing sanctions on Iran.
