The United States approved a $24.3 billion sale of 48 F-35 stealth fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, the State Department said Thursday.
It is the kingdom's latest major arms purchase since the start of the Iran war.
Since the United States and Israel launched the war against Iran in February, Saudi Arabia has been repeatedly hit by drone and missile strikes from Tehran's forces. The kingdom has also been targeted by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
