Trump Adviser Admits to Plans for "Score Settling" Against Rivals

A top adviser to Donald Trump has acknowledged that prosecutions of the former president's political rivals could be seen as "retribution." In a March interview with Vanity Fair, senior campaign adviser Susie Wiles said she told Trump his potential second term "was not supposed to be a retribution tour." However, she revealed an agreement that such "score settling" would end within the first 90 days of a new administration. "We have a loose agreement that the score settling will end before the first 90 days are over," Wiles said. She admitted that people could rightly view the actions as vindictive. "I mean, people could think it does look vindictive. I can’t tell you why you shouldn’t think that," Wiles stated. Wiles also offered her view of Trump's mindset. "I don’t think he wakes up thinking about retribution," she said. "But when there’s an opportunity, he will go for it." The adviser made these comments while discussing how people's personalities can become exaggerated, comparing it to the behavior of "high-functioning alcoholics."
