A new international award has been created to honor the late pioneering scientist Dame Jane Goodall.
The Starmus Jane Goodall Earth Medal will recognize individuals who work to protect life on Earth. Starmus is a major festival that combines science, music, and art.
The award's organizers hope it will encourage people to take positive action for the planet. Sir Brian May, astrophysicist and Queen guitarist who co-founded Starmus, expressed this hope.
He stated that while Earth faces many pressures, the new medal should inspire others to help.
