US meets Houthi leaders, refuses to help Saudi Arabia in Yemen

US officials met with Houthi leaders in Muscat, Oman, over the weekend, it has been confirmed. The meeting took place at the US embassy.
After the talks, the US decided not to intervene to help Saudi Arabia push back a Houthi advance inside Yemen.
The Houthis are an Iran-backed militant group. During the meeting, they reassured the US that their 2025 ceasefire agreement still holds. They also said they have no plans to attack US shipping in the Red Sea.
The Houthis confirmed that only Saudi-linked shipping is a target. They said this is because of Saudi Arabia's blockade of Yemen.
