Turkish journalist Tuğba Tekerek was arrested on charges of managing an association's Instagram account. The accusation comes two years after she published a news article about the LGBT+ movement.
Tekerek wrote the article while covering elections in Georgia. It was published by Kaos GL, an LGBT+ rights organization in Turkey.
Her lawyer, Nuradan Kılıç, rejected the charge in court. Kılıç called it a "sloppy claim by law enforcement."
Tekerek also denied the accusation. She described it as "a nonsensical charge with no basis whatsoever."
