Swedish Business Group: Voters Reject Tax Hikes

Sweden's general election has produced a close result, with the opposition holding a narrow lead. But the business group Svenskt Näringsliv (the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise) sees two clear messages from voters: no to higher taxes, and no to abolishing the karensavdrag (the waiting-day deduction, a rule that reduces sick pay for the first day of illness). CEO Jan-Olof Jacke is not worried that forming a new government may take a long time. "The big question is what policies will actually be carried out," he said.
