Canada’s exports to China jump 30% as Trump trade war shifts trade

Canadian exports to China rose 30.1 per cent in the first half of 2026, reaching $21.74 billion, according to data analyzed by the Canada-China Business Council and the University of Alberta’s China Institute. At the same time, Canadian imports from China fell 5.8 per cent to $44.86 billion. The shift comes amid the Trump trade war, which has pushed Canada to seek new trade opportunities.
