China’s new anti-corruption law targets foreign interference

China has introduced a draft law to combat cross-border corruption. Analysts say the law is both a tool against illegal money flows and a weapon against foreign interference. The draft allows China to block investigations from other countries. It also permits retaliation against foreign anti-corruption enforcement. In effect, it draws a firm legal line against foreign jurisdictions while setting up China’s own system to police assets overseas.
