The U.S. military has killed eight people in strikes on boats it says were smuggling drugs.
U.S. Southern Command announced the operation on Monday. It posted video showing the attacks on three vessels in international waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The command stated the targeted boats were "engaged in narco-trafficking." No further details about the suspects or the type of drugs were immediately released.
These are the latest in a series of similar intercepts by U.S. forces in the region.
