Singapore is considering an invitation to join the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (Waico), a China-led group on artificial intelligence (AI). Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo revealed the invitation in parliament earlier this week.
Analysts say joining Waico would give Singapore a bigger say in global governance matters related to AI. However, it may also invite an unfriendly response from Washington.
