Israeli soldiers shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian boy during a military operation in the occupied West Bank. The incident occurred on Thursday in the town of Tuqu’, located east of Bethlehem.
The teenager, identified as Osaid Abu Ali, was pronounced dead after being hit by live ammunition. The Israeli military stated its forces were operating in the area to arrest suspected militants. It said soldiers opened fire on individuals who threw explosives at them.
Palestinian health officials confirmed the death. Local witnesses disputed the army's account, stating the teen was not involved in any confrontation.
The West Bank has seen a sharp rise in violence since the war in Gaza began last October. Frequent Israeli raids and Palestinian attacks have led to hundreds of Palestinian and several Israeli deaths in the territory this year.
The Israeli military says it reviews such incidents. No further details were immediately available.
