France will ban imports of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Tuesday. The move follows recent settler violence that has weakened hopes for a two-state solution with the Palestinians.
France joins the United Kingdom and ten other countries in the trade ban, which also covers some services from the settlements. The ban targets products made in areas Israel has occupied since 1967, which most countries view as illegal under international law.
