Sweden’s Election Agency Revises Technical Error: Fewer Than 500 Early Votes Affected

Sweden’s Election Authority has sharply reduced its estimate of invalidated early ballots, saying the number is now below 500—not the 4,000 initially reported. The agency’s Mikael Östlund clarified that voters worried about whether their ballot was counted can cast a new vote on election day. However, he urged them not to submit another early vote before then. “You can always change your vote,” Östlund said, “meaning you go to your polling station on election day.” The correction comes after a technical malfunction raised concerns about the integrity of the advance voting process.
