Seed-Dropping Drones Could Plant the Forests of the Future

Forestry has always relied on heavy manual labor. In the future, a new type of drone could take over part of that work. The aircraft, designed for a single, specific task, is built to disperse seeds across cleared or difficult-to-reach land. By flying over rugged terrain, it can plant large areas much faster than human crews working on foot. This technology aims to address the labor-intensive nature of traditional reforestation. While it will not replace the need for human oversight entirely, the drone is expected to handle the most physically demanding stages of planting. The goal is to make forest renewal more efficient, allowing for quicker restoration of woodland areas with less strain on workers.
