US President Donald Trump said he is dispatching two senior envoys to Russia and Ukraine with a plan to end the war, calling them “two great negotiators.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump confirmed that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff would travel this weekend. He did not provide details of the proposal but said, “We have an idea for peace.”
The announcement came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a reciprocal ceasefire with Russia “for the duration needed to conduct these talks,” he said in his evening address.
The envoys’ trip marks a fresh diplomatic push by Washington to broker a deal in the conflict, which has entered its fourth year. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv has yet responded publicly to the reported plan.
