Swedish train passengers hit by delays should get compensation automatically, without having to file a claim. That is the new promise from the Green Party (Miljöpartiet) as it campaigns for the upcoming election. “It should be easier and more attractive to travel by train,” said party spokesperson Daniel Helldén. Under current rules, travelers must apply for compensation themselves. The Green Party wants to change that, arguing the process is too complicated and discourages people from choosing rail travel. The proposal means that ticket holders would receive payments directly when a delay occurs. The party says this would make the system fairer and more user-friendly.
