Prabowo to EAEU: “Ratify Our Free Trade Deal Now”

**Jakarta, Indonesia** – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has called on all members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to speed up the ratification of a free trade agreement (FTA) with Indonesia. Speaking at a summit on Tuesday, Prabowo urged the bloc—which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan—to finalize their internal legal processes without delay. “We have done our part. Now we need the EAEU to complete theirs,” Prabowo said, emphasizing that a swift ratification would unlock new trade flows and strengthen economic ties between Southeast Asia and Eurasia. The FTA aims to reduce tariffs and boost investment, particularly in agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. For Indonesia, the deal opens access to a market of over 180 million consumers. For EAEU members, it offers a strategic gateway to the wider ASEAN region. Negotiations were concluded earlier this year, but the agreement will not take effect until all EAEU parliaments give their final approval.
