Iran Attack Kills 2 Filipino Sailors on Saudi Oil Tanker

Saudi Arabia said Wednesday that two Filipino crew members were killed when an Iranian attack struck one of its oil tankers. The vessel, named Sidr, belongs to Bahri, the national shipping company of Saudi Arabia. The attack happened late Monday while Sidr was passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest exporter of crude oil, and Sidr was one of two supertankers carrying Saudi oil that were reported hit in the area. Iran has threatened to stop tankers from using the narrow waterway without its permission. The strait is a critical route for energy shipments from Gulf countries, and any disruption there directly threatens global oil supplies.
