Norway’s Center Party Cancels Political Truce Meeting After Mass Rejection

The Center Party has cancelled a planned meeting on political truce after most other parties declined the invitation, its secretary general confirmed to NRK. Ole André Myhrvold said the party had wanted to sit down with others “to take a step back and discuss how the truce should be handled going forward.” “We note that the majority of the other parties in parliament do not see the need for a meeting,” Myhrvold said. “And then much of the purpose is gone.” The truce means politicians refrain from making political statements in media and on social media, and avoid sharp political debates, until King Harald’s funeral is over.
