Chile has chosen its most conservative leader since returning to democracy 35 years ago.
Voters elected José Antonio Kast as president on December 14. He won by campaigning on promises to reduce crime and restrict immigration.
Kast is a controversial figure. He has publicly expressed admiration for the late dictator Augusto Pinochet, who ruled Chile brutally for 17 years.
His victory marks a sharp rightward turn for the South American nation.
