A father and son carried out a deadly terror attack on a Jewish community celebration in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday. The assault killed 15 people and is now the deadliest terror attack in the country's history.
The two attackers targeted a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach. The 50-year-old father was killed during the incident. His 24-year-old son was also involved.
Australian intelligence services had previously investigated the younger suspect in 2019. Authorities have not released further details about that investigation.
The attack occurs amid a sharp rise in reported antisemitic acts across Australia. This increase began after the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
