A Russian drone attack on a depot near Kyiv’s western suburbs killed at least 37 people overnight, Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday. The strike sparked a massive fire and a series of explosions.
Ukrainian prosecutors said the depot appeared to be storing “explosive objects.” President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that ammunition was likely the cause of the blasts.
“Those who allowed this to happen must be held accountable for their decisions,” Zelensky said, adding that ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other civilian areas.
The attack took place close to residential zones, raising fresh concerns about the safety of civilians as the war continues. Emergency crews worked through the night to contain the fire and search for survivors.
