Nepal-Tibet floods: 93,000 'in great need' after deadly flash floods, Red Cross warns

The Red Cross has warned that at least 93,000 people are "in great need" after flash floods hit the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday. The disaster has killed nearly 600 people, with another 1,900 still missing. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the world’s largest humanitarian network, said it fears the death toll will keep rising. Rescue teams are struggling to reach the hardest-hit areas because roads and bridges were destroyed by the floodwaters. The floods have triggered a massive rescue operation, but efforts are being hampered by the risk of new flooding. The IFRC described the situation as critical, noting that many communities remain cut off and inaccessible. As rescue teams push into isolated regions, the full scale of the destruction is still unclear. The Red Cross is calling for urgent support to help the tens of thousands of people left without shelter, food, or clean water.
