US Halts Green Card Interviews Worldwide for Training

The United States has ordered all of its embassies and consulates around the world to postpone interviews for immigrant visas. This category includes people applying for permanent residence, commonly known as green cards, from outside the country. The State Department issued the instruction so that consular officers can complete a training program on admissibility criteria. These criteria determine who is legally allowed to enter and stay in the United States. The measure mainly affects family-based and employment-based residence applicants who are processing their cases through a consulate. No new interview dates have been announced yet.
