Russian forces say they have taken control of the village of Varvarivka. The claim was made by Russia's Defense Ministry on Monday.
Varvarivka is in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region. This area in southern Ukraine is a major front line in the war. The village is located near the city of Robotyne.
Ukrainian troops recaptured Robotyne last summer. The reported loss of nearby Varvarivka, if confirmed, could make the defense of Robotyne more difficult for Ukraine.
There was no immediate comment from the Ukrainian military. Battlefield claims from either side must be independently verified.
