**JAKARTA** – Indonesia’s National Agency for Disaster Countermeasures (BNPB) has ramped up both ground and aerial firefighting operations across four provinces, responding to a surge in forest and land fires. The agency is deploying water-bombing helicopters and reinforcing ground teams to contain the blazes, which have intensified in recent days. The operations aim to prevent the spread of thick smoke that could disrupt daily life and travel in the region. BNPB officials confirmed that the firefighting push is focused on the most affected areas, where dry conditions have made the fires difficult to control.
