Tunisian authorities have recovered the bodies of 11 migrants after their boat sank off the coast of Ben Guerdan, a city in the country’s southeast. The vessel was carrying 15 migrants when it went down, according to an official statement. Rescue teams have not reported any survivors so far, and the search for the remaining four passengers is ongoing. The incident adds to a growing toll of migrant drownings in the central Mediterranean, a route frequently used by people attempting to reach Europe from North Africa. Local officials have not yet identified the nationalities of those on board or the cause of the sinking.
