Zelensky vs. dismissed defence minister: “Misguided” protests and a Trump clash

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly detailed his rift with dismissed Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov for the first time, calling the minister’s actions “misguided.” In a statement, Zelensky said Fedorov’s involvement in mass protests and his calls for an election were wrong. He also hinted at problematic decisions regarding defence spending. Zelensky added that inaccurate information from the Defence Ministry led to an awkward encounter with US President Donald Trump over the use of Starlink. The president did not provide further specifics on the spending issues. Fedorov was dismissed last week.
