Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of crimes linked to a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
The warrant cites “crimes against humanity, genocide, aggravated deprivation of liberty,” and “torture,” according to Turkish officials.
The charges relate to Israel’s treatment of activists aboard the flotilla, which attempted to break the blockade of Gaza.
Netanyahu responded sharply, calling Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan an “antisemitic dictator.”
The move deepens a long-running rift between the two countries, which have repeatedly clashed over the Palestinian issue.
Turkey’s warrant is largely symbolic, as Israel does not extradite its citizens, but it adds to international pressure on Netanyahu amid ongoing legal scrutiny.
