Russian Drones Hit Shopping Centre in Zelensky’s Hometown, Killing 16

At least 16 people were killed and more than 130 wounded on Friday when Russian drones struck a shopping centre in central Ukraine, local authorities said. The attack took place in the city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha said 22 children were among the wounded in the daytime strike. “There are 29 people in serious condition, including five children,” he said. Zelensky condemned the attack as an “act of barbarism” and promised a response. The strike hit a busy civilian area, raising fresh concerns about the safety of public spaces in the ongoing conflict. Rescue teams and medics were deployed to the scene. The full number of casualties may still rise, officials said.
