German authorities have arrested five men suspected of planning an Islamist-motivated attack. Officials say the group intended to use a vehicle to target a Christmas market.
The suspects were detained before they could finalize their plans. Police have not revealed which specific market was under threat.
Security remains high at festive markets across Germany. The country has increased vigilance since a 2016 truck attack on a Berlin Christmas market killed 12 people.
