Wildfire Smoke Could Spread to Neighboring Countries, BMKG Warns
JAKARTA — The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in West Kalimantan warned on Friday that smoke from ongoing wildfires could cross into neighboring countries. The agency said wind patterns may carry the haze across borders, potentially affecting air quality in nearby nations. BMKG urged local authorities to step up fire prevention efforts. It also advised residents to limit outdoor activities and wear masks if smoke levels rise. The warning comes as parts of Indonesia face dry conditions that increase the risk of land and forest fires.
