Settler Violence Surges in Palestinian-Ruled West Bank Areas

Violent attacks by Israeli settlers in the heart of the West Bank have nearly doubled since last year, according to a new report. The report, published by the Israeli human rights group Yesh Din, shows that almost two-thirds of settler attacks in 2026 have occurred in Areas A and B. These zones are officially under the control of the Palestinian Authority, following the 1995 Oslo accords. For years, most settler violence was concentrated in Area C, which is under full Israeli military control. The new data marks a shift. Settlers describe their campaign as a “great settlement revolution.” The target is the very territory earmarked for a future Palestinian state. The findings were shared with the Guardian. Yesh Din warns that the surge in violence threatens to destabilize the already fragile region.
