Trump Declares 'Economic D-Day' Against Iran, Threatening 'Unprecedented Isolation'

President Donald Trump announced a new economic offensive against Iran on Wednesday, calling it the most devastating operation ever launched against any country. The goal is to cut off all financial and economic support to the Islamic Republic. "Today I announce the most devastating economic operation ever undertaken against any country," Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. He warned that any nation allowing its financial institutions, companies, airports, or government entities to provide "any kind of lifeline" to Iran would face economic consequences. "This will be an economic war and unprecedented isolation," he said. The measure targets routes used to bypass sanctions and maintain financial flows to Iran, including oil smuggling, currency exchange lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, and shell companies. Trump demanded these operations "stop NOW" and said Washington will monitor countries and entities that allow them to continue. Trump framed the initiative as a new phase of U.S. pressure on Tehran, claiming Iran's armed forces have been severely weakened after recent clashes and that its economy is on the verge of collapse. "This will be an economic D-DAY," he said, urging U.S. allies to join the isolation of Iran and reiterating that his government will prevent the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Earlier, Trump suggested that Washington and Tehran might resume negotiations "at some point" to end the war, though he noted the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz "is very good" and that many oil tankers are transiting without problems.
