Israel’s defence minister on Thursday accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of “dragging Turkey into dangerous adventures in Syria,” escalating tensions between the two nations.
The warning came days after Israeli warplanes bombed an air base inside Syria. Israel has not officially confirmed the strike, but officials have repeatedly voiced concern over Turkish military activity in the region.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously claimed that Turkey seeks to establish a permanent military presence in Syria. The defence minister’s latest remarks signal growing alarm in Jerusalem over Ankara’s moves.
No direct response from Turkey has been reported yet. This is a developing story.
